Toyota's subsidiary, TRD or Toyota Racing Development is concerned primarily with providing Toyota with an enhanced performance image. The TRD designs and manufactures Toyota racing engines aside from building and promoting performance aftermarket parts for many Toyota vehicles. Racing parts are usually those that improve the performance of the Corolla in terms of speed, handling and acceleration.

 

The most common racing part used to boost speed and acceleration is the turbocharger or the supercharger. Both produce 'boost' that propel the vehicle to greater speeds. Superchargers usually come with an intercooler since it is fed mainly by hot exhaust gasses. Some parts complementary to the supercharger include comfortable and supportive seats.

 

These parts are usually used for recreational purposes such as racing. Other racing parts are concerned with the appearance of the Corolla. Body kits make the Toyota Corolla look more aggressive and lower to the ground for that edgy, racing feel. Rear spoilers not only add sportiness but also improve the aerodynamics of the car since it reduces drag.
